Rollcage Walkthrough

General Advice:
- Each car and every track has its own foibles and differences. So, try out a few cars on the practice track and stick to the one you like the feel of. Come back often to try out different cars when you have a bit more experience.
- Make sure you get the turbo start. Accelerate just as the countdown reaches GO! Don't ram into Lenny or Leon though, as they'll make your life hell.
- Learn to control the powerslides, this skill will help you get out of tricky skids.
- To powerslide: Approach a corner at maximum speed. Hold the brake and turn into the corner until you start to skid. Then quickly release the brake, back on with the power and apply opposite lock. Different brake points and power points will apply to different surfaces. It is easier to skid on sand after all. Practice is the key.
- Don't rely too much on the AutoCorrect feature, you won't have it on hard mode and the other drivers never use it.
- Try not to over compensate during a crash. If you're spinning in the air end over end, ride with it until you can gain control safely. It has been known to bounce off of two walls over a cliff, off a wall, through a building - blowing it up - then spinning down the track bouncing over two cars, overtaking them, landing in the right direction and powering over the line to win!
- Only tap the accelerator to manoeuvre in confined spots.
- Try to save one good weapon for the final lap. A time warp when you're leading is priceless. A leader missile when you're in second almost guarantees a win.
- On the other hand, don't hoard weapons in the early stages of a race. Balance is the key.
- If you have a leader missile after you but no shield for protection, then you can fire a Driller to take it out. Wait until the leader missile overtakes you and then aim the Driller at it just as it heads back for the kill.
- Take out floating billboards. If you get the timing right they're explosion force will give you a nice little boost.
- A similar technique can be used with buildings.
- If you find yourself heading towards a fence or vertical wall on the outside of a corner then steer INTO it not away from it. That way you'll hug the wall and get around the corner. You can use fences to guide you around corners at speed.
- Use speed pads effectively. You get a bigger boost if you're not holding the accelerator when you go over them. But, that means you'll just slow down while on them. So, tap the accelerator as you go over the pads.
- If someone else uses the Timewarp then try to get to a speed pad and let go of the accelerator. You'll be on it for ages and the speed boost will be awesome. Just make sure you're prepared for when the Timewarp wears off!
- Take out the competition by ramming. Easy if you have a shield. If not then try nudging the back wheels of one of the other cars. Great technique for spinning the competition out.
- Drillers can also be used for taking out wormholes. But then you may want to use it AFTER you've gone through!
- After a car goes into your wormhole you have control of their car for a few seconds. Their steering matches yours. Steer them into a wall. Watch out for this if you get caught in one.
- Take out tricky buildings that hinder your racing line.
- Sounds obvious but remember which buildings you've taken out; you want the rubble to hinder the other cars not yourself. It's no good asking, "who put that rubble there?" when it was you! Has been known to happen.
- You only have one type of brake and that's a handbrake! If you brake hard you WILL skew left or right depending on the camber of the road. To counter this, use the engine to slow you down and dab the brake. Or, for the more experienced, brake hard and apply opposite lock to the direction you are skewing.
- If you manage a lap without stacking it or scraping the sides you will be given a 'perfect lap' bonus. This consists of filling both your weapon bays.

Cars:
Which car you choose really does make a difference to how you race Rollcage:

Tony:
Bit reckless this guy, all mouth and no trousers. Loads of noise on the line but just can't manage a quick getaway. He drives one of the toughest cars and all he wants to do is show off.
Not too much of a problem to race against, he seems to be out for himself. Destruction is his forte. Taking out buildings left, right and centre. Tony is the one you'll see driving up a wall firing rockets in midair and hoping to ride the blast. Reckless is his middle name.
To drive Tony's car is a nightmare. Oh, it might be tough but it slides all over the place. Get used to its lack of grip though and you'll be performing some wild powerslide manoeuvres.

Jet:
Jet's a little show-off at heart, but intelligent with it. She'll go for the mad stunts and pull them off. She's accurate with the weapons and knows when to use them. Her car is a trade off, toughness and top speed for manoeuvrability. Her little car grips the road like a limpet. It's amazing that she can stay in contention really. But, she can take corners at speeds that everyone else would be stacking it. And that more than makes up for the shortfalls.
Jet's car is simple to drive. It's not very tough so be wary of others ramming you. You're the one that'll come off worse. But you'll make up the time on corners, so cut them.

Lothar:
Pretty intelligent guy is Lothar. He'll hold on to those weapons and use them tactically on the last lap. If you get hit by a leader missile on the line after being in the lead from the start then the chances are it was a present from Lothar. His car is average in all categories. Lothar prefers to rely on skill rather than technology. A cool character usually, but don't take that for granted because if you annoy him too much he'll snap back.
A reliable car to drive, reasonably tough, reasonably quick. If you want to get the best out of Lothar's car then you're going to have to drive unreasonably.

Ria:
Another intelligent girl. Cool, cairn and deadly accurate with those missiles. Sometimes saving them until the last lap. She's hard to rile, preferring to shrug it off and get down to winning the race. She drives a fast car but it's very weak. So it won't hold up in a collision. Ram her out of the way.
Driving Ria's car is a breeze. Decent acceleration and a fast top speed. Not the grippiest of cars but if you take the racing line you can keep that speed up.

Lenny:
Reckless like Tony, but this boy's got a mean streak running through him that's certainly not yellow. His car is built like a tank so you're not going to want to be on the receiving end of his insane ram attacks.
Watch out on the grid if he's in front because his acceleration is quite bad. You're more than likely to plough straight into him.
To drive Lenny's car isn't too bad. It has the speed if not the acceleration and although the grip isn't really there you can do some real damage to the others by ramming,

Leon:
Leon has quick reflexes, nudge him and he'll be quick to retaliate. Stay clear of him, one accidental tap off of the grid, one thoughtless glance and he'll want your blood. Winning doesn't come into it where he's concerned, he'll be after you no matter what. Not the most intelligent guy, but don't be surprised if he won't let you overtake. He'll try his best to block you and anyone else who tries to get in his way.
Good, all round car to drive. It has the grip to keep you going. It doesn't have the best acceleration but enough to keep you i. the race. Not bad, all things considered.

Yuri:
Boy is he good. If only you could get to drive his car.

Weapons:

Shield:
Protects you against collisions with walls, other cars and especially missiles.
Will only last a certain number of hits. It's great for ramming and completely necessary to counter leader missiles when out in front.

Turbo:
Instant speed. Tap the button to get a long turbo, hold the button for a short one, both types have their uses. Fire two at once and hold on tight!

Worm Hole:
Worm hole someone from in front of you to behind you. They must be in line of sight. They can dodge a wormhole by braking and then driving around it. If you do get someone, watch out behind you. They may have a Driller powering up with your name on it.
If you have one fired at you, try dodging it. Or, sometimes it can be used to avoid a leader missile. Dive in and let the guy who fired the wormhole take the lead: On the chin! Driller them to add to the insult.

Homing Missile:
The weapon of choice for taking out buildings. It automatically targets buildings, but if you press up on the joypad it'll target other cars. Best used on a straight as it's hard to steer when you're targeting.
You can also get a speed boost from one of these if you fire it into the ground while cornering on a wall - tunnels etc. You could try the infamous Rocket Jump with these. Fire them as you get to the lip of a jump for some serious air. It won't work if you're shielded up though.

Driller Missile:
Fire it once and it drills through everything until it hits a side. Great if you're in the middle of a pack. Or, save it for when you get wormholed.

Leader Missile:
Hits the leader. Don't try using it when you are in the lead!

Time Warp:
Slows time for everyone but you. Save one for the last lap and go from 6th to 1st. Firing a time warp while one is going will cancel it out.

Ice Sheet:
Only lasts a short while. Try to get people, as they are about to enter a corner. If you look backwards and then fire you'll have a very effective trailing Ice Sheet. Great if you're in the lead.

Cool Combinations:
Two weapons are better than one. Some combinations can do some really cool things. Fire two turbos at once for a super turbo. For ultimate effect fire them on a ramp…
- Fire a wormhole and a rocket one after the other in quick succession and you can send the rocket up your own bottom and get a MASSIVE speed boost!
- Turbo and Time Warp together are the ultimate overtaking combo.
- Two leader missiles almost guarantees to take out the leader. One for his shield and the second for him. If he manages to Driller them then he deserves to win and you are NOT worthy.

Paradise:
Where?
Set on one of the Harpoon Islands. Luxury apartments and hotels make excellent targets.
What?
Tarmac all the way round with some grassy bits. Hotels and trees.
How?
Pretty straightforward this one. Once you're used to your car it shouldn't cause you any problems. Get a good start and outrun the field by cutting the corner on the grass. Grass is slippery so you need to be careful, but it should be easy enough to edge into the lead.
The road drops next and you can be caught out when you take off. Make sure you're going straight. DON'T HIT THE LAMPOSTS. DO nudge the competition into them if you're playing as Lenny or Tony!
There's an easy right that takes you up to the first bank of pickups. You can storm down this straight because the corner at the end is gentle enough to take at max speed. Make sure you ride over all the speed pads.
The only really tricky section of this track is the final chicane. However with a bit of practice you can clip each apex at maximum speed and sail through. You can impress your friends by clipping the second apex on the grass and sailing through the air. If you get it right you'll turn slightly and land skidding and under full control to face the correct direction.
Speed Freak Master Class:
The key to getting the fastest times on this track is the shortcut. It's located just to the right of the back straight and comes out a little way before the start/finish line. Do a couple of laps first to get up to speed and clear the way from trees and stuff. Fire off a turbo as you come up to the line and make sure you get the Perfect Lap bonus. Coast around to the back straight and turbo over the pickups. Veer right to take the shortcut tunnel. Then double turbo as you come out of the gorge and you can see the line. If you get it right you'll sail over the line going at well over 600kph.

G-Force:
Where?
Set around the factories and outbuildings of the icy Saphire Springs Penguin Processing Plant.
What?
Tarmac with occasional off route snow patches. Factories and towers, outbuildings and chimneys.
How?
This is your chance to get some tunnel practice in. On the 'Go' Let the pack shoot off, don't worry you'll soon catch them up. Then hit the accelerator and start your pursuit about a second later. You certainly won't want to be a part of the inevitable pile up in the tunnel. Dodge the stragglers and those that spin out and ease your way up onto the ceiling. Drive over all the speed pads and make sure you get the pickups.
Now, if you're feeling suicidal or incredibly brave then point your car slightly to the RIGHT as you come off the ceiling. This will set you up for the short cut positioned to the LEFT of the factory area. (Remember you were upside down on the ceiling and directions are reversed.)
If your nerves can't take it then just come off the tunnel ceiling in a straight line. Head around the longer route. The only dangers up there are the occasional bumps and the corner is just that bit too sharp to take at max speed unless you take out the building on the inside first.
Non wimps head for the shortcut tunnel. You'll have to go over some snow and snow is VERY slippery so try to set yourself up first. There's a ramp just before the shortcut if you hit the diagonal right you'll sail into the tunnel and stick to the wall maintaining your speed. COOL.
The shortcut tunnel is pretty straightforward and you can hammer it all the way through. The only problem is on exiting and joining the main track. If you can knock out the tall chimney just before the main tunnel you'll find it a lot easier. If not then make your course corrections on the patch of tarmac in front of one of the huts. Try turning on snow and you'll just plough straight into the chimney! On the last lap you don't have to worry so just double turbo out of the shortcut and fly over the line.
Speed Freak Master Class:
You need to use the shortcut method described above. Clear away the buildings and rubble then double turbo over the line making sure that you collect your Perfect Lap bonus. But, double turbo ON the snow. This is because on tarmac the wheels grip and slow down your rocket power. On snow you maintain the speed for longer because your wheels skid. Obviously you need to be lined up first! Then double turbo off of the tunnel ceiling and into the shortcut tunnel collecting the pickup on the way. Long turbo as soon as you can, shoot out of the shortcut and fly over the line for an awesome time.

Contact:
Where?
Site of the crashed spaceship that tried to make first contact with Outworld.
What?
Rock, gravel and sand. Boulders, towers and the infamous first contact spaceship. Left in situ as a memorial and meteors.
How?
The start on Contact depends on your position. If you're in pole then just hammer it straight towards the outside bank of pickups. You have a choice: Pickups or speedpads. Collect pickups first and then ride over the second set of speedpads.
This'll give you the speed you need for the straight. If you're not in pole it's probably better to sit back letting the pack go, then take the inside line. If there are any pickups left get them, don't worry about the speed pads. If you take the inside line then watch out for the slight dip after the corner. You can sometimes lose traction if you take it too tightly and spin out. Easing yourself round is the answer.
There are two routes around the crashed spaceship. You can take the left fork in a practically straight line. This is the best way for maintaining your speed (great with a double turbo!). Although it does take a bit of practice: fall down the ledge or clip the fence and you'll pay! The only time that you should take the slower right is if the left is blocked by traffic. You can gain quite an advantage by avoiding the likely pile up.
The high-banked corner rewards the correct line. With slippery sand at the bottom and an unforgiving fence at the top you need to find the right spot just in-between. The higher up though, the better. Come off the bank as the sand recedes. Budding stunt freaks can veer left as the bank runs out, fly into the air, spin several times, land catlike on all four wheels and get a good line for the next section. NOT recommended for the beginner!
After the bank you'll have three courses to take. If you're OK for weapons then take the left speed pad route. If you're desperate for weapons then ease your car over the little ridge after the towers to join the third route and collect your pickups. If you scare easily then take the middle wimps' route. The two high routes converge towards a single jump. If you approach from the pickup route then make you sure you put in a little right flick before take off. This'll line you up for a cool landing.
Speed Freak Master Class:
OK, same routine. Clear the track from buildings and rubble. Stop before the line with two turbos in hand. Line yourself up with the inside pickup bank and then hit the double turbos. If you lined up properly you'll restock. Ease around the corner and then hit a single long turbo to take you around the banked corner. As you come off of the bank and your turbo runs out hit a short turbo. Tricky bit: ease over the ridge to grab some pickups on the right hand of the three routes. As soon as you can, double turbo. If you can get in a little right flick just before hitting the ramp then you'll shave a couple of hundredths off of your time, NOT EASY.

Daytona:
Where?
Another one of those Harpoon Islands. A lovely holiday resort.
What?
Generous measures of tarmac, dirt and sand. Hotels and some 10,000 year old monuments just waiting to be smashed to pieces.
How?
Like G-Force the race starts facing a tunnel. As this is the first race in the league you'll be placed at the back. Just bide your time. If you're playing Lenny or Tony it's probably best to bulldoze your way through. The tunnel exit contains a nasty surprise in that the road disappears from beneath your wheels. You really need to hold back on the power well before you go over the summit. Keep to the right and you should make contact with the road sooner and that's a GOOD thing.
By the hotels the road "splits." You can continue along the road or take the shortcut along the beach. Sand is slippery and it takes a bit of practice to get used to it. But it's definitely worth the effort: loads of pickups and a decent lump of track cut off. The route back off of the beach is a little tricky, head for the ramp and you should be OK. Especially in the later stages of the race when the course has been cleared a little.
The final corner shouldn't cause any problems, just go over the speed pads and hug the inside wall. Then get as much speed as you can (speed pads, turbos) and hit the ramp flat out. If you spin out when you land just get back on course as quickly as possible and hit the accelerator!
Speed Freaks Master Class:
We'll assume you've cleared the field and there's nothing left to get in the way. Get a flying start (double turbo over the line and collect your perfect lap bonus) into the tunnel. Kill your speed before you come out of the tunnel, easing off the accelerator should do it. Round the corner at the bottom hugging the inside wall. Double turbo down onto the beach collecting a turbo on the grass. Fire that off as soon as you can and stay on target to get another turbo. Jump the ramp over the grass and collect one more turbo. Go over some speed pads and double turbo as soon as you can before the big jump. If you get it right you'll land nicely and shoot over the line. Another cool time!

Park Life:
Where?
The urban sprawl of Neoto City.
What?
City roads-tarmac and the odd wall.
How?
Pickups are rarer on this fast track. If you're in pole then get a good start and grab the first pickup. The first corner is pretty straightforward, just watch out for the explosive barriers.
When you get to the first tunnel you'll have a choice to make, left or right. They are both equal in length but the left one is easier to get into. However, squeeze by the barriers and lampposts and take the right one, it has pickups in. There's a slight delay before they first appear so if you're not in pole position you can linger a while at the start (NOT TOO LONG) and make up here. Even if you do get a good start still take this tunnel as the exit throws you into the correct line for the speed pad wall. If you try to cut the corner after exiting the left tunnel you'll just be rewarded with a mouthful of brick!
Ease up onto the wall as soon as you can. Coming down cautiously just before the last bank of speedpads.
Watch the lane markings! The right lane ends before the next tunnel so position the car in the middle of the other three. Jump down into the tunnel & keep calm. If you have a turbo, fire it. Work your way up onto the ceiling and go over the speed pads (as if you actually need more speed!). The tunnel exit has a pickup on the ceiling this'll visually help you line up. Grab it. If you have any more turbos fire them when you land. If you're Jet with good grip then take an inside line around the next corner. If you're Tony or Lenny you won't want to loose speed so hit the tunnel wall and it'll guide you round.
It should be plain sailing from now on, just watch out for the little jump before the line. Bear right over it and all should be well.
Speed Freaks Master Class:
You'll need to take the shortcut to get the best times on this one. Yes there is a shortcut!
Clear the field, get a running start. Turbo over the line, take the right tunnel, turbo through replacing it with a pickup. Turbo round the speed pad wall. Come off and replace your turbo again with the pickup that's in the road.
Now, don't go down into the tunnel. Instead if you look to the right you'll see a narrow route that'll take you ASOVE the tunnel and into the park mentioned in the title of this track. Although it's all grass the park shouldn't cause too many problems. DON'T TURBO just yet. You can destroy the monument but the base always stays to challenge you. Find the "Italian Job" style steps behind the monument. Hurtle down, then around the last corner to rejoin the main route. THEN double turbo to take you over the line. Takes a lot of practice to get into the park at speed, the reward is well worth it though.

Frontier:
Where?
Just near one of Outworlds star ports.
What?
Dirt, rock and sand. Weird levitating towers and a heart stopping ramp.
How?
A nice wide start to this one, so the choice of route is down to you. We prefer to go for the pickups on the left but that makes it a little harder to get the tunnel right. However, if you take out the floating towers then you'll find two pickups between them.
Approach the tunnel from the right hand side then let the outside wall take you around and down. Make sure you are centred on the tunnel floor as you exit else you may hit some bumps or even the right-hand fence.
Keep to the right of this wider section and avoid the big rock. You can take it out with a homing missile and if you time it right surf the explosion for a speed boost!
Let off some speed before taking the sandy corner. It shouldn't cause too much trouble but it's better to be safe.
Now you have to make a quick decision! Bumpy, long, SAFE right or quick, dangerous, SCARY left! The secret to the ramp is speed. Too fast and you can get over the wall fine, you'll just stack it against the far wall. Too slow and the inevitable happens: CRASH. If you miss the ramp entirely, well… I suggest knitting.
The last section is pretty straightforward, watch out for the slippery sand though. You can ride over every speed pad if you get the line right.
Speed Freak Master Class:
Smash everything up then get your perfect lap bonus as you double turbo over the line. If you need to, grab one of the pickups that were between the towers and turbo into the tunnel. You'll need to practice the correct line for the car you're driving.
Turbo out of the tunnel and head in a straight line, collect a pickup. Turbo as soon as you get round the bottom corner. You may have to powerslide around this; it depends on the car. If you leave too late you won't be able to ease back enough for the ramp.
Yes, take the ramp route. You know you want to.
All that's left then, is the last twisty bit. Just keep to the racing line and turbo when you can. Easy.

Smugglers:
Where?
Down by the docks on Harpoon Islands.
What?
A bit of road, a bit of dirt. A huge cavern and your basic harbour rubbish.
How?
Now you're in trouble. If someone said that you don't need to use your brakes they were lying. You're going to need a few goes to get this one off pat. Every time you crash, note down where it was and then SLOW DOWN next time. If the hand brake scares you then just ease off of the accelerator further back.
More specifically, slow down before you approach the big cavern. Slow down as you go back through the first tunnel. But, speed up through the harbour section!
You'll need quick reactions, but you can nip through and between the buildings and cranes. If you're feeling confident then go left past the first crane, over the speed pads to get some pickups. The more conservative can drive slower down by the ship and get the correct line into the tunnel after the jump. But, that can be a little tricky to get into.
Speed Freak Master Class:
The trick to this one is to get into the cavern as quickly as possible without stacking it (obviously).
So, with a clear field, turbo over the line and get your bonus. Ease off to coast through the first two tunnels. Line up with the straight and fire off a double turbo.
Now, ease off as you approach the cavern. Then just as you go over a small lump in the road tap left. Your car should spin slightly in the air and you'll be nicely lined up in the cavern as you land. Yeah right. No, honest!
OK, collect some turbos and hit them. Repeat until you get over the line. Easy! Rollcage team (no way you jammy git) best time: 21:33s

Eruption:
Where?
A volcano located in the Outworld.
What?
Sand, rock, dirt and molten lava! Mining equipment and trains.
How?
You start this one looking into the entrance to a large volcano. You'll have a chance during the countdown to admire the scenery and notice that the jump into the volcano is higher at one end. You'll want to be heading for bang in the middle. You'll also be wanting a quick getaway if you're in pole. If not hold back a bit. You can overtake the field in the volcano by driving OVER the lava and cutting off the corner.
The lava tunnel is quite easy just follow the little stream of the stuff and you shouldn't get into too much difficulty.
On exiting head straight for the middle pickup. Watch out for the boulder wired with TNT just before the corner at the top. Take this wide and then cut in. if you cut it too early you'll take off and then have a hard time trying to avoid the far wall.
Now you're heading for the main mining area. On later laps it'll be easier as buildings get dropped. First time round though... well... close your eyes, hit the accelerator and pray. You haven't got this far by being a woos.
Now, if you see the train sticking out of a tunnel, go around the sandy way. Brave people have met their end by trying to sneak past the train like that. If the train is up the other end, then by all means take the shortcut. Just make sure you're not on the floor when you go past it!
On later laps you can double turbo right through the mining area and tunnel without fear. Just watch the right hand lip of the tunnel entrance. Hit that at speed and you'll be spinning till 2001.
Speed Freak Master Class:
I've said it before, I'll say it again: Clear the track. Turbo up to and over the line. Jump into the volcano area and hit the outside wall. Turbo around that, come off just in time to collect the pickup at the tunnels entrance then turbo down the tunnel. Turbo again, collect the pickup in the middle of the tunnel exit area and the pickup before the corner. Watch out for this corner though, collecting the pickup puts you on the wrong racing line. So, shed a bit of speed before you got to it. As soon as you're round the corner long double turbo across the mining area, through the train tunnel and over the line! Oh yeah, if you want to impress your mates, leave the train in the tunnel. Then if you get the timing right, hit it and you'll get a huge boost out of the tunnel and over the line. Could be worth 0.5 of a second. Make sure you're pointing in the right direction or you'll end up way back down the track or painting the tunnel ceiling with skidmarks.
Rollcage team (no way you jammy git) best time: 18:03s

Area 52:
Where?
A not so secret military base in Saphire Springs.
What?
Snow, dirt and a runway.
How?
You're going to employ a couple of sneak tactics on this one.
Let the other cars go and you'll notice that they take the left tunnel, the one that leads to the runway. You take the right tunnel BUT watch out for the crates. If you edge past them to the right you shouldn't trigger them. Do this so that if the other cars feel braver on later laps they'll probably trigger the crates and clear the way for you. This tunnel is quite a decent shortcut. Especially on laps one and two, while the runway is cluttered. Although it is quite hard to get into at speed, you can loose several places if you hit the crates.
The tunnel itself is pretty easy just make sure you don't make the mistake of lumping out of the window. So stay left then veer right just before the jump.
Run over all the speed pads and hurtle down the hill at speed. Just before the snowy corner hit the brake and turn into it. Keep the power on and the opposite lock. Get it right and you'll powerslide right round the corner.
Sneaky trick number two: drive down the right hand side OUTSIDE the box bridge. There are some pickups down there, the only ones you'll see if you don't go down onto the runway. If you've got the speed you'll clear the buildings and huts on the exit.
The rest is simple, keep to the centre line and all should be fine.
Speed Freak Master Class:
Turbo over the line. The runway is easier and faster. Double turbo as soon as you're lined up with the runway exit tunnel. Collect two more pickups on the way. Speed through the tunnel then out over the speed pads and on down towards the snowy corner. Approach this wide from the left side and powerslide into it. Through the box bridge then double turbo. BUT DO NOT go down the dip. Stay on the higher ground and maintain your speed. Bit of practice and you'll get below 20 seconds easy!

Cross Over:
Where?
Up and around the Mail in Neoto City.
What?
Roads and the shop floor.
How?
The shortcut on this track is quite effective. The only problem is how to get into it and when. We suggest that you go for it from the line. It's a little way after the start on the right. Take it easy, else you'll ride up the wall and come off at a funny angle and stack it into the Mail! Take out some of the small obstacles in the Mail itself before exiting. This'll help later on. The exit again is not that easy. Take it steady. It's very narrow and has a right hand bend in it. If you turn too soon you'll just bounce from wall to wall. Not what you want to be doing as the rest of the field shoot by.
The tunnel section next should be a piece of cake by now. Nothing really to note except if you approach at 5OOkph plus (you may be doing that if you wimped out of the shortcut and went the long way instead). Just remember you can use the walls to get round and maintain your speed. No matter which car you're driving.
The San Francisco style bumpy hill needs a bit of care to negotiate. There are two schools of thought on this one:
1. Take it quite slowly and zigzag down to lessen the effects of the bumps. Or..
2. Turbo off of the top and close your eyes!
Whichever way you choose you'll eventually get to the crossover. Take the right jump first. It's slightly harder to get to but lines you up correctly at the end. The best way is to coast through. Don't brake, just ease back and then tap the accelerator a couple of times while in between the jumps to keep your speed up. That should make it more negotiable, just watch out for the other cars. Mid air collisions are more than likely to ruin all your plans.
The final tunnel before the line can be taken flat out. Remember to use the walls to best effect. You can show off by corkscrewing over the ceiling. i.e. Go up the wall and onto the ceiling at the first corner, the right. Then come back down as the tunnel goes round the left.
Speed Freak Master Class:
Turbo over the line. Take the shortcut, the entrance at about 250kph. Turbo as soon as you clear the corner, straight through the Mall. Hug the wall on the exit and then into the tunnel. Cruise around the tunnel corners and then go down the first of the San Francisco style bumps, grab the pickup and turbo. If you get this right then you should jump over most of the bumps.
Now the crossover, simple: turbo over! You can clear the entire area with one well-timed turbo.
The only hard bits now are the final two corners in the tunnel. Collect pickups at the tunnel entrance and then turbo through using the walls to keep your speed up around corners.

General Advice:
If you're reading this section then good, you have friends. If you came straight to this section then excellent, you want to thrash your friends within an inch of their lives. Having friends is a good thing, beating them is even better.
- If you're in the lead and your mate fires a leader after you, brake. Let him zoom by and take his own medicine.
- Sometimes, your over zealous friend will wormhole you after you've stacked it. Then, as you are trying to shake it off he will zoom on by. Go into the wormhole and get on line with an instant speed boost.
- Don't forget: If you see your friend in trouble help him out by ramming him into walls and stuff.
- Practice all the tracks in the league game or time trial.
- Be kind. Let your mate win sometimes or else he'll just think you're a bloodthirsty expansionist son of a root vegetable and you'll have no one to beat anymore.
- Remember, you can play all the tracks in 2-player not just the ones detailed below.
- Try to command the pickups. If you have all the weapons your mate won't. If you drive through a large bank of them dump the first few by using them. Watch that you don't fire a leader missile at yourself though.

After Shock:
Where?
Just after a massive earthquake on Outworld.
What?
Rock, Sand, a smashed tunnel and ruins.
How?
This track contains a massive drop in the tunnel. You'll need all your wits to get through it smoothly. Get a good start avoiding the smouldering ruins. (A great place for your mate to visit though). This is a fast figure of eight track with long straights and sweeping corners. The only real danger is in the tunnel and coming back up to the start.
In the tunnel: suddenly the road will disappear from beneath you and it's a long fall into a narrower tunnel. You can do this if you dab the break early and keep it straight. If you approach slightly from the right and slow to about 100kph you should avoid the sides and land on your feet facing the right direction. Needless to say this is the place for some serious tussles. Practice your confined space manoeuvrability because the first person out of the small tunnel has a massive advantage. The last thing you want is an Austin Powers 3-point turn nightmare. On exiting watch out for the derailed train, keep right.
Approach the line: At the end of the long straight you drive into a narrower gorge that heads back to the line. Watch out for the ridge in the road on the right hand side. Skirt the landslide on the left and you'll be fine. Remember to ease off of the speed before you get there though as you'll be going too fast for the corner and you'll stack it. Having said that though, if it's the last lap and you're in second, floor it! You should be able to get a wheel or two onto the left hand cliff, if you double turbo off of that you can take the race! Watch your mates' face as you sail over the line.
Speed Freak Master Class:
Much the same as above. You need to get the tunnel drop right and use the desperate method for the final corner. Remember to clear the field of debris first. There are enough pickups to keep your speed up on the long straight.

Flood Zone:
Where?
Around Neoto City and along one of the cities overflow canals.
What?
Mostly tarmac. Some water. Look out for the monorail.
How?
This has a great 'duel' section. If you ever wanted to play head to head 'chicken' then this is the track for you.
Get a clean start and head for the tunnel ahead, try to hug the inside. It makes it harder for your mate to overtake.
The next section has loads of turn left signs, try and ram your mate into them. The more of them cleared the easier later laps will be. But, don't ignore their warning as the road ahead ends and you have to drive off of the road and down to the canal below. Watch for the gap in the left wall by the bank of pickups. On later laps when the field is clearer you'll be able to take this jump flat out if you approach wide. For now though brake to get through.
The canal should be taken fast, watch the water though as its very slippery. At the end you need to turn around and come back, powerslide around the marker if you can. This is your chance if you are in second because the leader will be coming directly for you. Get those Drillers and Homing missiles ready (remember you can target other cars by pressing up on the joypad).
Back down the canal you have to take a right through a gap in the canal bank. You can take this entire corner by approaching wide.
The only dodgy bit after this is the last tunnel. It angles at 90' so keep your speed up or else you'll fall off!
On the second lap take the alternate tunnel to when you started, as the distance is shorter and it's easier to get into.
Oh yeah, take out the monorail support on your way through. The monorail falls down and can be a right pain for your mate as it gets right in the way.
Speed Freak Master Class:
You need to get the drop and corner right. They can be taken at full speed if you take them wide enough. The pin at the end of the canal must be negotiated with a powerslide.
Apart from that it should fairly easy to get.

Road Works:
Where?
One of the Harpoon Islands is being developed.
What?
Tarmac, rock and grass. Cranes and hotels.
How?
This track contains a couple of sharp corners. One of which is great for practicing your powerslide technique. Try and get the turbo start and if you're nearer the inside wall then try to ram your mate into the wall in front of the tunnel. If you're on the outside then brake before your mate rams you and let him spin into the wall!
Slow down just before you come to the exit to the tunnel so that you drive over the speed pads rather than jumping over them.
If you're in the lead then take out the crane with a homing missile if you have one. The support point is away from the ground so you'll need a missile this time. The rubble left will slow your mate down.
Now you're at the roadwork's section. Watch out for the pit, go over the speed pads and fill up with weapons at the pickup bank. Now, the first sharp corner approach wide and cut in early and you'll be nicely lined up for the second roadwork section. Try and force your mate to undertake you because he should loose grip and plough straight into an exploding building.
Be aware of the little hills and curves of the second roadwork section and as soon as you can see the tunnel entrance and line up with it: turbo. If you have one that is.
The rest should be pretty easy just the last corner to negotiate and the lines yours. Powerslide around this corner on the speed pads, use them to set the correct line. Approach at maximum speed then hold the brake for a little while and turn into the corner. As soon as you start to skid let go of the brake, keep the power on and apply opposite lock. Keep in control all the way round until you get the grip back and you're away!
Speed Freaks Master Class:
Double turbo over the line, jumping out of the tunnel. Make sure you veer slightly left before the jump or you won't get the right line. Turbo, keeping as close to the edge of the pit as you dare. Collect some pickups & take the corner wide. Long turbo, again keeping as close to the edge as you dare. Turbo into the second tunnel.
Powerslide around the bottom corner. This'll restock your turbos, as there is a bank of pickups there. Double turbo as soon as you see the line.

Deathmatch:
What?
Look, it's easy right. You hit your mate with a Driller & score a point. You use your turbo for a quick getaway. If you fall off the ledge, well…, then you’re silly & your mate gets a point. Simple.

Bonus Tracks:

Skid Pan:
Where?
Saphire Springs has put a bid in for the Winter Games. They're building a toboggan run.
What?
Snow, tarmac & a toboggan run.
How?
Time trial only this one. So, double turbo over the line & get your bonus. Slow just after the second to last lamppost & ease around the snowy corner. Power out of the bend but then let go of the accelerator as you reach the first bank of speed pads. If you get the right line then you’ll jump down the drop into the tunnel. Too fast & you’ll bang your head. Power up through the tunnel, you’ll be increasing speed all the time from the speed pads.
The last corner in this tunnel is a bit tricky, dab the brake just before you go into it & then let the car go up the wall, as you are about to hit the ceiling apply opposite lock & steer towards the ceiling. This'll snap the car parallel to it & you’ll be back under full control. It's a similar technique to that used for letting fences & walls guide you around corners, just this time it's halfway up a wall.
The next section should be easy, just head for the tunnel in the opposite corner. The area should already be cleared before you make your time attempt. Double turbo through the lot. Collect 2 more before the tunnel entrance.
Now the toboggan run. Generally, anticipate corners. Start steering into the next one just before you get to it. Keep low & your speed up. Use one single long turbo early on. Then the next as you leave the run to take you over the line. If you turbo on the snow & jump the ramp you’ll keep more speed (Little or no friction on snow or in the air).

Super Bowl:
Where?
The famous Harpoon Islands car sports arena.
What?
Straightforward tarmac, except you can drive upside down.
How?
You'd think this was a bit boring just going around & around, but no, this track requires cool tactics & expert timing. There are 2 schools of thought on this: race on the ceiling taking the speed pads or race around the bottom cutting the corners & relying on turbos. Are you going to take an early lead & try to fend off the leader missiles or sit back & time your attack for the line?
You won't find any pick-ups on this track, you have to drive the perfect lap & have your weapons awarded. Crash & you’ll lose more than just time.
It's difficult to advise on this one as everyone adopt his/her own tactics. All I can say is that there is no honour in saving 2 time warps for the final lap, but then noone remembers the honourable loser.
Speed Freaks Master Class:
Hmmm… right, you need to get your speed up, do this on the speed pads on the ceiling, 3 or 4 laps should be enough. Double turbo a fraction before you go over the line & collect your bonus. Come down off the ceiling at the first corner, cut it as fine as you can, tap the steering to reduce friction & keep your speed up. You should be around the 520kph mark all the way along this straight.
Hug the corner, let the car drift ever so slightly out then bring it in just as the final straight comes into your sight. Now the fun bit: double turbo into the fence at a shallow angle, you’ll hit the rise & take off. If you get it right you won't hit anything or land until you go over the line at well over 700kph.
However, if you want the FASTEST of times then you are going to have to hit one of the floating billboards & surf that explosion force. No, I'm serious.
